For those that remember the VCR days, Betamax was the loser in the VHS vs Betamax wars many decades ago. It seems in this article from ars technica, Sony is finally stopping making the tapes from the Betamax players, nevermind that the players haven't been produced for a long time!
My hats off to anyone still using them!
